D.A., the Gourmet

I thought I’d start reviewing places I’ve eaten at. I haven’t posted much to the old blog in a while and thought this might be fun.

My first victim, er… location is The Backwoods Bar and Grill in Miami, Oklahoma. Yes, this is a restaurant in a casino. Buffalo Run, to be specific.

I ordered the half smoked chicken with fries. So, let’s go point by point, shall we?

First, the price. I will say this is a lot of food for $12, so it’s a good value. However, that alone wasn’t enough to save it.

The fries were good and crispy. I’ll give them that. But, it’s hard to mess up crinkle cut fries unless you just under cook them. These were pretty good.

I wish I’d taken a picture of the chicken, because it looked fantastic. It really did. Looks can be deceiving.

To call this chicken dry is a major understatement. They smoked every bit of moisture right out of it. Honestly, it was work just to swallow it. I really didn’t enjoy it at all.

Flavor wise, the bbq sauce was pretty good, but there was no saving that Death Valley Chicken. Even covered in sauce, the meat was way too dry to enjoy. I do not recommend it.

So, if you find yourself in Miami, Oklahoma at the Buffalo Run Casino, don’t order the half chicken. However, there are other items on their menu that are really good. I’ll review them next time we visit.

Let me know in the comments if you want me to keep doing reviews like this.
