A long, long time ago…
For those of you who know me (and some of you who do not), I am not just an author of fiction. I have been in law enforcement for nearly ten years as a Corrections Officer. At the beginning of 2016, I was fortunate enough to attend a law enforcement academy to gain my Class A P.O.S.T. (Police Officer Standards and Training) Certification. I graduated in June of this year and have been a commissioned deputy since then.
I still work as a Corrections Officer, but this allows me to do other things beyond the jail. This has taken up a great deal of my time, this past year. This is partially why I have not updated this blog in a long time. I’ve been far behind in my writing schedule, too. I’m working hard to pick up that slack and to run with it.
Recently, the entire profession has come under fire. I’m not going to debate anyone on the subject of law enforcement. You have your opinion, I have mine. Let’s leave it at that. If the fact that I am in law enforcement bothers you, then you have the option to unfollow this blog and not read it. I won’t argue with anyone. Negative comments will be deleted and whoever posted it will be removed. There is far too much negativity going around for me to want to join in. I’m too old and too tired to waste the energy on it. Sorry, but that’s how it’s going to be.
Having said that, let me get to the point (finally) of this post. The reason you read this blog in the first place was the tips on writing and occasional grouchiness that I shared. I plan to continue that tradition. I will be more than happy to help anyone I can with their writing dreams. After all, I had plenty of help along the way, too.
I can’t promise the things I’ve learned and share will put you on the New York Times Bestseller’s list. I haven’t made it there, myself. Granted, that’s the goal…but I’m not quite there yet. I can tell you what has worked for me. I might not be at the top, but I’m on the ladder. It doesn’t cost me anything in my climb up to help others along the way. Hopefully, you will continue that trend and help others in their climb. That’s what it’s all about.
So, I’ll leave off with this. I don’t just write about helping people. I put on body armor and a gun to do that everyday. I am serious when I say I want to help people. I don’t care what the background. Basically, when all the political-social crap is out of the way, there are really only two types of people. Good people and bad people. Moral of the story, if you’re good to me, I’m good to you. End of story.
I hope you enjoy my writing. “The Ragnarok Rising Saga” is completed with the release earlier this year of the fifth book of the series. It’s called “Ragnarok Rising: Desolation.” I had a blast writing that series.
My current project is the sequel to my sci-fi series. The Infinite Black Series is based in the universe of the game from Spellbook Studio called “The Infinite Black.” Download and play it for free at Spellbook.com.
The first book of that series is called “The Lost Legion: Perdition’s Flames.” Book two, which will debut in February 2017 will be called “The Lost Legion: Blood and Honor.” Please check them out and help spread the word.
Thank you all for reading this blog and for waiting so patiently while I caught up on the backlog of things I had to do since I started the academy. My tagline for my writing does really sum it up. The End is only the Beginning.
