Ozarks Haunted Pathways

There’s an idea that I’ve been kicking around for a long time now. I wanted to do something that would profile the Ozarks and it’s rich history of haunting, sightings, legends and myths. I finally took the plunge and launched my YouTube channel, Ozarks Haunted Pathways.

You can find it here:

However, that’s just the beginning. I want to show you the things that made me fall in love with the Ozarks, growing up here. The haunted tales, folklore, legends and  history and lore that fills every hollow, forest and valley.

There are stories here. Stories that are as old as the hills themselves and date back to the first settlers of this region. Some them predate European settlers. Strange animals, haunted battlefields, ghoulish tales to chill the blood. I heard many of these tales growing up here. Some over a campfire and others while sitting in the floor listening to my mother tell stories of when she was a little girl, growing up in a haunted house.

I used to love to hear my mother and grandmother tell tales of the darker side of the Ozarks. I truly miss those stories and wish I had been old enough to know I needed to record them all for posterity. What I wouldn’t give for the chance to go back and write them all down, just as they told them to me. But I still have aunts and uncles, sisters and brothers, cousins and friends. It is to them I dedicate this channel, but also hope to have them help me on this journey. And what a journey it will be.

I will do my best to keep the content coming. I know I’ve been remiss in updating both this blog and my Facebook pages. I’m hoping that will no longer be an issue since I’m not working nearly as many hours at my primary job. Who knows, if this takes off it might one day BE my primary job. That would be amazing.

For those of you that are fans of my writing, you will assuredly see some places that I’ve already touched on in my writing. For those of you who are just now joining us on this journey, I hope to take you to some amazing places full of shadows and chills. I hope that also draws you into my books. After all, these places will always inspire the locations in my horror writing.

If you’re a native of the Ozarks and want to share your own tales, send them to me at OzarksHauntedPathways@gmail.com. I’d love to hear your strange encounters, ghost stories and legends that you heard growing up here in the Ozarks. Remember folks, the Ozarks is a vast area of the Midwest.

According to Wikipedia: The Ozarks, also known as the Ozark Mountains or Ozark Plateau, is a physiographic region in the U.S. states of Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and extreme southeastern Kansas.

Some would even include parts of north-eastern Texas as well as eastern Kentucky and Tennessee. That covers a lot of terrain. There is a lot of folklore in this region, including Native American tales and battles fought in the Civil War. Tragedies to match any Shakespearean play or Greek epic. That’s what I want to bring to the table and show you all.

So, join me on this journey. Walk the Ozarks Haunted Pathways with me and explore what this place has to offer. I think you’ll find there’s something here to tingle the spines of even the most experienced horror aficionado. Come and see for yourselves.
